This is the beaty of the 3rd round matches. German vs Spanish team. It's been a long time since Hamburg participated in Champions league, and we all remember the 4:4 against Juve and 1:3 win at Delle Alpi for the Germans. Now they are back and are ready to face debutants Osasuna.
HSV had a very good team last year and they have now added 3 new youngsters : Sanogo, Guerrero and the huge talent Vincent Company. In liga pokal they were defeated from Werder 2:1 but were without some important players and Werder got the win after De Jong got a red card.
On Sunday, HSV will play a friendly against AS Roma, and the first leg against Osasuna comes just three days before HSV open their Bundesliga 2006/7 season at home to Arminia Bielefeld on August 12th
HSV has lost key players and leaders such as van Buyten, Beinlich and Barbarez. While they have brought in good replacement for van Buyten with Kompany, they have not properly replaced Beinlich and even more importantly Barbarez. I don't rate Guerrero and Sanogo and most of the HSV fans are very upset about their club spending 4m on such an average player like Sanogo.
They still have quite a good team of course but I don't think they're any better than last season, even worse if anything. They will also lack some leadership IMO.
I'm not saying HSV can't win, they surely can, but absolutely no value on HW. To me it's 40-30-30
Go for Osasuna at 3/4 ball handicap.
